What to Wear and Bring to Class
Although you don’t need any special shoes or equipment to enjoy these 3 great burlesque classes, you will have more fun and be able to do more if you remember these tips:
1. Wear (or bring it to change into at the venue) something a little body conscious and comfortable that you can stretch and move freely in. Dance clothes, Yoga clothes, Workout clothes, etc are all terrific! You may want to avoid anything too baggy so you can see the progress you are making towards moving various parts of your body. Don’t worry, we are all here to celebrate our unique and lovely features, so no judgements if you might have a little extra padding in some places!
2. It’s easiest to first learn the techniques if you are barefoot or in comfortable flat shoes that you can turn and spin easily in and don’t grab the floor too much. BUT, feel free to bring medium height heels with you to try out what you’ve learned in the “sexy shoes” at the end of the class!
3. For the BOA class: Bring a feather boa if you have one, or simply bring a heavyweight long scarf. (the lightweight ones tend to float a bit too much to control easily) I also usually have a few good quality feather boas for sale if you are interested.
4. For the Chair Dance class: Nothing special needed at all. But no loose clothing because it will get in the way. Form fitting is the key with this
one :)
5. For the Peel and Reveal class: (Don’t worry, NO actual nudity needed in class! ) Please wear or bring:
+ a form fitting Camisole top (the lingerie variety is even fine as long as it doesn’t ride up. Stretchy body hugging fabrics are best!
+ a pair of Gloves, long ones if possible
+ a Button up Shirt
+ a Skirt that either zips or buttons and you can wear easily over Leggings
+ a traditional back fastening Bra. For the big finish, we will wear our bras OVER the camisole to learn how to “take it off” like a pro while maintaining modesty in class!
+ Medium height Heels that stay on your feet well.
6. Lastly bring anything that will make it more comfortable or fun for you and your friends, like a small towel if it’s warm, water, even a beach towel or yoga mat if you want to do any extra pre-class warming up.
7. Optional: And bring a little cash for the bar (if there will be one) if you want to share a couple of drinks throughout the night and to get your liquid courage up before we dive in! There are also usually a few feather fans or boas for sale!
8.
Finally, bring your sense of fun and adventure because this is going to be a great
Girls Night and give you a few things to pull out and use later!
